| |
On 26 Sep 2009, the executive committee met and had a fruitful discussion on the setting up of an industry chapter under the Biomedical Engineering Society. To be able to link well with the industry, it was proposed that BES would join the MedTech manufacturing Consortium led by SIMTech of A*STAR. Within the partnership, BES believes that the society could play an active role in the biomedical industries in Singapore and can serve the industries by providing training, education, research opportunies and information relating to best practices and standards. The society believes that for the industry to grow in Singapore, more concerted effort is needed by the society to link up with the major biomedical companies from overseas, as well as to support the needs and growth of the local companies. Altogether 26 companies have already forged themselves into this partnership through the signing of the MOU.
